Now on YouTube is beta testing premieres. This is a kind of symbiosis of life streams and familiar videos. You upload a video to a resource, but set the time for the premiere. When the appointed time comes, a 2 minute countdown begins.

As soon as the timer shows 00:00, the video itself starts. The main distinguishing features I can call the lack of rewinding the video forward (you can only back) and chat, and you can highlight the message by donating money.

Recently wrote about FB Watch. One of the key strategies for capturing the market from him is the emphasis on the sociality of video hosting. But apparently YT also does not want to lag behind, and more than once in the future we will get similar tools.

Findings:

To many, this update will seem just a minor improvement in deferred publication. But I think there is potential in the premieres:

First, they will increase the views in times in the first minutes. Everyone knows that you need to collect a maximum of views on the first day, the first three days or even a week. But of course it is better to collect a maximum in the first seconds by attracting the attention of the audience even before the release of the video.

Secondly, the premiere will help grow faster channels with cool and rare content. After all, if you do not spam the premiere for each video, and use only for first-class content, then people will go with each new premiere more often and more willingly.

Thirdly, the retention of prime rollers will be more than the standard ones. Quite often, the hold falls due to fast forward (for example, commercial inserts). Premieres will help to avoid this. Banal psychology also plays: since I was waiting for this video, I even looked at the countdown for 2 minutes, I would still watch this video to the end.
